For those who don’t know, I run a local meetup group called Portsmouth Freelancers Meet — a monthly hangout for creatives, developers, designers, marketers, and anyone working for themselves in and around Portsmouth.
After 16 months, three lockdowns, and a lot of waiting, we were finally able to meet in person again — and it felt so good to be back.
Our last meetup was in March 2020, just two weeks before everything shut down. Last night, we returned to our familiar home at Staggeringly Good Brewery – although “familiar” might be a stretch, as they’ve had a major refurb since the pandemic. It’s had a full restructure and now includes fresh-baked pizza (not complaining).
With their updated opening hours, I’ve shifted our meetup to the first Thursday of each month. Same friendly vibe, just a slightly new rhythm.
It was amazing to catch up with so many familiar faces — around 35 freelancers showed up — and to welcome some new ones too. If you’re local and fancy joining us, you can find the latest details on pfmeet.co.uk.
