A few weeks back, I was approached by Pulse Clean Energy who wanted a some updates to their existing site. This involved a home page content refresh, a new Projects page, brand new Careers pages, and a design update to their News section, whilst keeping their existing theme and design in tact.
Making the site clearer and easier to navigate
This was all about making their site clearer, easier to navigate, and better at telling the story of the important work they do in renewable energy storage and grid stability.
I redesigned key sections like the ‘Projects’ area, which included adding an interactive map and improving how project case studies are displayed, and a brand new Careers page so they could showcase their working environment to potential employees and make listing new jobs super easy.

A focus on clean code and accessibility
As always, my focus was on clean, maintainable code, good accessibility, and keeping things as user-friendly as possible, across all devices.
Working with the existing codebase
The existing codebase was built in Twig/Timber on a WordPress ACF Flexible Content set up, so it was easy for me to work with the current code, make some improvements to accessibility. As part of the work I did, where there was documentaton missing, I also included a readme file for future developers as well as providing the client with their own userguide and Loom videos for managing the new sections of the site.
A happy client
The Pulse team were brilliant to work with, giving clear feedback and trusting the process. I was really pleased to get this lovely testimonial at the end:
“Jo and her team recently worked on our company website and we’ve been delighted with the results! Jo was always really easy to communicate with – she responds quickly to any queries and is happy to offer different solutions to a problem. I’d happily come to Jo with any future website builds!”
